With its 1600th store, Mintd has raced past 7000 listed items, the latest crop including such eclectic wonders as ghetto blaster earrings and miniature health guides.

Our Mintd tech crew have been diligently working behind the scenes to keep everything functional and iron out the kinks that crop up as the site expands (both in is size and awesomeness.)

A big thank you to everyone who continues to grow with Mintd and make the site something special. We’re working to bring you an even better experience.

Good luck and happy minting!

Changes to Free account product limit Posted by rubidium rubidium 4 months ago

For the last 6 months, people setting up new stores on Mintd have been able to add 10 new products. We are overjoyed so many new stores and products have been added, and the influx of new members has added greatly to the community. But with so much for free, we have seen subscription rates decline to the point where we need to do something. As great an experiment as it has been, we have decided to revert to the former system: members who join on the free account will be able to add three products. Other subscription levels will keep the new products limits.

We’re giving all store holders 2 months grace to pick the top three products they’d like to keep, or to upgrade and keep everything. The general consesus seems to be that most people make most of their sales from their top products, and we feel that three products is enough for people to decide if Mintd is right for them.

There are now even more benefits to upgrading. Larger product count, store customisation and all for less than $1.70 a month!

If you ever find yourself sitting around, waiting for inspiration, you could do a lot worse than checking out BoingBoing , the insanely popular counter culture blog that deals with all things weird, wonderful and strange.

BoingBoing celebrates a great many of our core values here at Mintd: independence, lateral thinking, creative development and some darn fine artwork. Searching there archive can reveal some true treasures.

Happy reading!

The new year is well and truly here. Parties have been recovered from, holidays have been returned from, and new years resolutions are lurking in journals, compelling us to get started.

If your resolution was to support yourself doing something you love, Mintd is here to help it happen. More people than ever are buying online, and selling has never been easier.

Mintd had a bumper Christmas season, so congratulations to all those who were working like Santa’s elves to fill orders.

We’ve lots of great things planned for 2008, so keep an eye out and happy Minting.

Mintd is ONE! Posted by rubidium rubidium 7 months ago

Mintd turned one this week. A HUGE thank you to everyone who has helped make it a very special place. Creating Mintd and watching it grow has been one of the best experiences in my life.

As many of you are no doubt aware, Mintd is not a multinational conglomerate with millions in funding, relentlessly driving for growth. In the independent spirit of most of our sellers, we are just a couple of people who wanted to make a difference and thought we could do something worthwhile.

A special thank you to everyone who has subscribed, as your support (literally) keeps the lights on and helps us keep Mintd moving. I am still blown away by the amazing creations that turn up on Mintd daily: we had no way of knowing when we started Mintd that there we so many of you out there producing so much amazing stuff.

We have lots of great ideas and wonderful things in development, and will continue to strive to give a fitting home to the outstanding creativity we find here. I look forward to meeting more of you in the years to come. Thank you again for your faith and support.

Yours,

Rubidium Wu.
