About me:

My name is Amie Plante. I also sometimes use my middle name Louise. I used to hate Louise but now I like it so I throw it in there once in a while. Some folks like to call me Amie Lou…

I began creating art when I was a child and Jewelry over 10 years ago. I am a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design and U-Mass Dartmouth. I am a professional jewelry designer/metalsmith/jewelry/art teacher extraordinaire. My business pays for a mortgage and all other bills and expenses. My experience, education and expenses therefore influence the higher prices I need to charge for my work. But I think when you see my pieces you’ll find the expense is well worth it.

My inspirations are: anything in my garden, at the beach and in my neighborhood.
The weirdest thing I’ve ever made was a HUGE ring with the head of a rottweiler (sp?) on it. Incredibly ugly and made as a college student in a moment of penniless desparation.

I am fairly new to e-commerce and I’m brand new on Mintd. I really enjoy the new challenges involved with selling online, but I have a big issue with the mindbogglingly LOW pricing for handmade things, especially jewelry. I am mostly trying this out as an experiment to see if I can sell some work and to encourage interest in my website. I place a great deal of value on my credentials, my experience, my time and my designs and I am very protective and considerate of all of these things when I make and price my work. I am truly interested in really making this a great selling resource so I plan to post more varied work in the future.
