I am Female, 27 years old and I live in Adelaide, Australia.
I have been a mintizen for about 1 year.
New MENS JEWELLERY COMING SOON!
My name is Gemma, but you can call me Gem for short.
I was born in Huddersfield, UK, emigrated to Australia when I was 7 with my parents and brother and have made Adelaide my home.
I have always been surrounded by creative people, my Grandma a cake decorator and seamstess, my Dad a Painter & Decorator and a Jack of all Trades and my Mum who always dreamt of pursuing an artistic path but was told “Art is not a lucrative career” and ceased designing beer mats (some of which can still be seen today in UK pubs!).
I wanted to prove the elders wrong, wanted to break the Holmes’ curse and create lovely assembled wares for everyone!
I developed a passion for jewellery when I was very young and have distinct memories of my eyes lighting up when I discovered my Mums and my Grandmas jewellery boxes (all of which I will inherit- WOO!).
In 1999 I started TAFE majoring in Jewellery Design and Manufacture and graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Applied Design and Visual Art.
Put simply, making jewellery makes me happy- I love seeing people wear my creations, and if they’re happy.. Ive been successful in designing and making something someone will cherish!
Enjoy!
Don’t be afraid to drop me a line, say hi or leave a comment.. I won’t bite… hard ;)
