About me:

A small studio at the end of an alchemical alleyway in the centre of Prague.

What Interests Me:

“new decorative” arts (and what comes after – yawn – endless modernism), Prague, Bohemia and things Bohemian, brocade, embroideries, pattern, sgraffito, russian futurism, russian block printing, w.b, yeats, John Dee (and the scandalous Edward Kelley, scrier extraordinaire). Cats – expecially in frilly dresses, bustles and feathered hats. Fortune-telling (and no I don’t mean brain-storming with cards – I mean fortune-telling). Tarot and the tarot business – when it does not include removing “spells” from hapless clients. Angela Carter and her Bloody Chamber.

Pause for breath…

Food – good food, interesting food, Indian and French food (but not together). Excellent chocolate and ice-cream. Good coffee. Interesting green tea – with ginger.

Another pause…

Did I say fabrics? Linen (preferably Irish), silk – expecially very old and beginning to show its age. 19th century figured velvets, hand-embroidered whimsy and wild things. Scarves with flights of fancy – or just birds will do.

Certain fairy tales – original ones not the dreaded Mr Disney. Ghosties and ghoulies and Nosferatu (by Herzog of course). Bone chapels, chapels of Death (our local one is quite jolly). Crypts and carvings and Art Nouveau gravestones.

Swifts – best seen flying over Prague in the morning.
