Purple Renaissance Waist Cincher
Lately I’ve been longing for the Renaissance faire (alas, it doesn’t start until late summer!), so to get my fix, I’ve been making Renfaire accessories.
This is a waist cincher crocheted from striped purple and blue acrylic yarn with a lacing of blue ribbon. It has a cute dark purple ruffle at the bottom and the same color trim on top.
It’s 37" (94 cm) long and 7 1/2" (19.1 cm) high including the ruffle. To give you an idea of how it fits, I modeled it; I have about a 40" waist, and as you can see there’s a bit of a gap. I’d say the smallest size that could wear this is around a 37" waist (anything much smaller and it would be too large), and it can go larger because of the lacing; just keep in mind that if you have a larger waist, it’ll have a gap in the lacing.
This isn’t boned, but lacing it up does give a cinching quality (depending on the size of your waist). This is a comfortable, inexpensive alternative to more expensive faire garb. :)
This cincher can actually be worn with either side facing out; the stitch looks slightly different on each side.
