A Pair of Stone Vessels

This pair of little beauties are made with a gorgeous French granite.
I cored the stone with my antique drill press in my studio, the walls are 1/8”(.3175 cm)thick, light passes through beautifully, but the liquid inside doesn’t leak out. They are approx. 2.75”(7 cm) tall and 1.5”(4 cm) wide, and the rim has been guilded in gold.
Great gift for yourself, also makes a great wedding present*
Safe to drink from, but could also be used as a pair of vases if you prefer.

The Jade Pot

This piece is crocheted using 26 gauge colored copper wire and the structure is made with 18 gauge Bronze.
It was inspired by Asian artifacts and a new idea that I had for creating a piece.
It is a lovely piece, ready to be displayed by itself or possibly with dried, felted or fabric elements. If you like, a glass or ceramic vase could be placed inside to display a fresh cut flower arrangement.
A lovely piece for someone who truly loves green,brown,copper, bronze, and the ornate.
Casts a lovely shadow from light transference.
It measures approximately 6”(15 cm) wide and 5”(13 cm) tall.

Verde Antique Cup/Vase

This is a beutiful piece of Vermont Stone known as Verde, it’s a serpentine also called a marble, beautiful green with bronze colored veins. I cored this vessel in my shop and hand carved the details, texture and finish. It measures approx. 4”(10 cm) tall X 3”(7.6 cm) wide.
The hole is approx. 3 3/8” ( 8.5 cm) deep X 2” (5 cm) wide X 5/8” (1.7 cm) thick.
The rim is guilded in gold, makes a lovely vase for fresh flowers or maybe a tool/pencil holder.

Harvest

This basket is a combination of crochet and a traditional 8 spoke basket weave(slightly modified)
It happens because I like the contrast of materials, the plant fibers look very rigid and the metal looks so soft, but in reality, I feel the opposite is true of each material.
The plant fibers are Jerusalem Artichoke canes, which are native here in Vermont and grow in my yard, a tall Sunflower type of plant, I cut the canes back every fall and dry them. The other plant fiber is from the Utah Agave plant, which commonly grows in the Western U.S. while hiking down into the Grand Canyon last fall, we collected the dried dead leaves of this plant that were lying around on the trail. I brought them home and rehydrated them, this is the first weave I used them in.
The metals are brass, anodized titanium and aluminum,copper, & bronze.
It measures approx 4.5”(11.43 cm) wide and 4.5”(11.43 cm)deep.

A Round of Color

This is a crocheted metal bowl that is filigree and light, but very strong and structural.
This is a combination of many metals, the most I’ve tried so far.
I started with 16 gauge anondized aluminum to shape a frame and from there a vibrant combination of colors and texture happend.
4 different colors of copper make up the lower sections of crochet, the crochet at the top is stainless steel. I finished it off with a rim made of anodized alluminum and bronze. I fininshed raw cut edges by hand by either filing or hammering, for a nice finished edge.
The measurements are approx. 6”(15 cm) wide and 4”(10 cm) deep
A very tactile piece to accent any space.
